Talk about a read and a half. This book has everything you ever wanted to know about running from how to go slow to how to go fast and how to eat while going slow or fast. It also covers going short, long and how to make a workout plan. Ever wondered why muscles cramp? Or how muscles stretch or contract or the effect going down hill has on your quads? Read this book. Be prepared though because this is ALLOT of book, don't expect to knock this thing out in a weekend. It's the source of sources and has all of the information that websites and other books have been parroting for years now.

A very scientific read, which I appreciate; however, the information is outdated, and is not current with what Dr. Noakes supports and argues.

Although the author,Tim Noakes does not believe what he wrote (particularly about carb loading), this book is the most complete scientific book on running and running training. I still believe the carb is the best energy source for a distance race at least up to 26.2mile.

As a recent graduate from an Exercise Science Master's program, I found this book to be a wonderful table reference and resource for my own training for endurance running. The depth and clarity of the writing make this a consumable read for anyone, though it may be difficult to understand without some exercise science background

It's a great book as a reference - or as a read. The other posts have said it all regarding content, of this superb book, so simply: if you are new to running and are interested in a thorough read on running this is the book for sure. If you are experienced this may also be a welcome review, but it may get into unfamiliar and interesting areas if you are keen to understand more of the physiology and cell biology (assuming some advanced runners may lack this knowledge). The training schedules are always fun to flip through as they allow us to add variation, based on sound logic, into our running programs. VERY detailed and explains WHY certain training recommendations are made. I'm a physician and was surprised how technical this book was. If you are not scientifically minded, this is still a great reference, but do not plan to read this cover to cover unless you took a lot of biology in college. I have used this book for help with an injury and the recommendations and explanations seem very sound. If you are merely looking for training schedules, there are other places to find them, but this book has a wide variety of "formulas" for race preparation. For serious runners, this book is a bargain. Probably cheaper and more useful than any running shoes or other equipment you are putting on your wish list.

There's really nothing like this book in what I've seen. I'm not an ultra-long runner - in fact, I'm not even a good runner. However, this book has a deeply researched, referenced, scientific approach to exercise physiology that I've been unable to find in other literature. My science-oriented background yearns for something more than vitriol or practical advice, and this book fills that role no matter what aerobic sport you wish to pursue. Page after page reveals "aha!" moments where I find out what the various "lores" I've was brought up with have some merit, or where they fail.

This book is very good and comprehensive of a lot of knowledge I have learned from many other books.

About the Author
Clark L. Hull PhD (1884-1952) was a psychologist and experimenter. He presented lectures and seminars on hypnosis at the University of Wisconsin, then later at Yale University. Hull's work "Hypnosis and Suggestibility" was first published in 1933. It was the first extensive systematic investigation of hypnosis using quantitative experimental methodology. In 1936 his contribution to the field of psychology was rewarded with his election as President of the American Psychological Association. His published contributions to the science of psychology include "Principles of Behavior" (1940), followed by a revision of his theories in "Essentials of Behavior" (1943). His last work, "A Behavior System", was published shortly before his death in 1952.

Wow, the producer Kenichiro Takaki is really unabashed at the selling point of Senran Kagura series of games. On page two, in case you missed it, they even printed the words "BOOBS" in big bold red fonts. That's the highlight of this book.This is a 240-page paperback that's has been translated by Udon Entertainment into English from the original Japanese edition 閃乱カグラシリーズ 公式イラスト集 -少女達の軌跡-.This book features art for the following games:Senran Kagura Skirting ShadowsSenran Kagura Crimson GirlsSenran Kagura Shinovi VersusSenran Kagura NewWaveSenran Kagura Bon AppetitSenran Kagura 2 Deep CrimsonThe other selling point are the wonderful illustrations included. The pages are filled with beautiful anime style illustrations of the female ninjas. There are character designs, funny scenarios and pin-ups. The character designs are awesome. I like how dynamic the characters look.This book is definitely not safe for work. Although all the important bits are covered up, there are still a lot of touchy-feely pieces, and of course more than a handful of those teasing almost-nude illustrations.Right at the end are interviews with Righteous Boobage Artist Nan Yaegashi and Righteous Boobage Producer Kenichiro Takaki (that's what they call themselves). Basically they talk about what it's like to make a game that features so much boobs. Some parts are serious, like really talking about the IP and game making, while others parts are on character designs.There are character profiles for the ninjas across the different games in the last few pages. Also included is an encyclopedia that explains all the terms, phrases and jokes from the past games. im thankful for marvelous for releasing this awesome visual art collection of senran kagura games.now what its in this design books are some offecial art , concept - ruff drawings - bonus material art and some softcore porn cuz its an ecchi show after all so please keep in mind to be careful around litlle children or people who might get offended by some the pictures .with that said this a good way to treat us senran kagura fans as it has arts from Burst - Bon apatite - new wave - SV and abit of 2 crimson but sadly not EV .overall it has a very good mix of art from various characters to be fair as the characters are interesting and like them not for the ecchi part of the show but for being a badass action girls with different fighting art styles and character tropes .to bad that Estival Vs didn't make the cut as i would have loved some Renka pictures , but hopfully they wouls realease an english EV design book as well .for this art book if your itching for some senran kagura art this a wonderful book for fans , ecchi lovers and gaming fan alikenote there are also a wonderful interview section at the end of the book with the series creator and artist also that is amusing to read , as well as some ultra cute and funny comic strip section of each game end chapter that really made this book much worthwhile .im craving for more US released SK US art books in the future and hopefully with US release of EV they might do one for that game ( Gotta get me some Renka pictures ) .

It was interesting to see the thought process behind the game. But the down side is there is a lack of concept art; I kinda wanted to see the evolutionary process for each character. Oh well, who cares? The important factor that is the game is in there (All throughout the book), so many Senran Kagura fans won't complain.

Wow this book is very high quality and attractive if you are into anime chicks. it came fast and in perfect condition would buy again if I had to but I plan on taking care of it so take it as a positive.
